Three years of systematic documentation of inner states, development of observation protocols, and publication of results on this site constitute a sufficient duration for perspective. What follows is not a definitive assessment — by definition, observation continues. It is an honest stocktaking.
What the exploration has confirmed
Regular inner observation effectively modifies the quality of presence to oneself and to others. This modification is gradual, non-linear, but real and robust. It does not produce particular states but develops a capacity to inhabit ordinary states with more clarity and less automatic resistance.
Rigorous method — the distinction between observation and interpretation, documentation, verification, doubt — is more productive and less painful than unstructured intuitive approaches. This does not mean it is easy, but its difficulties are data, not obstacles.
What the exploration has not resolved
The question of the relationship between observation and change remains open. Observing a pattern does not automatically transform it. Some patterns resist observation with a persistence that method alone cannot explain. This limit is real and deserves to be named.
The question of the meaning of all this — what a more precise self-awareness is for, in what direction this work goes — also remains open. Not from avoidance, but because honesty demands that it not be given a premature answer. The work continues. That may be, for now, the only valid response.
